Syphilis In LA Porn Industry Rumor Still Unconfirmed By Health Officials
Amid rumors of a new syphilis case in the adult film industry, Los Angeles County health officials said Monday they have not received any official reports of a performer testing positive and therefore could not confirm the existence of a new case.
"While (the Department of Public Health) is aware of media reports about a possible case of syphilis that may be connected with the Adult Film Industry, a confirmatory case report has not been received by DHSP," according to a county statement. "If this case were to be confirmed, DHSP will investigate it according to routine protocol, which includes interviews with sexual partners of individuals who are infected."
Adult film industry blogger Mike South reported the syphilis case on his blog. Michael Weinstein, president of the AIDS Healthcare Foundation, the organization that authored the current law that requires that all male adult performers wear condoms during sex scenes, said this case and another recent syphilis scare in the industry could have been prevented if county officials enforced that measure passed last year by voters.
"We are calling on county health officials to fully investigate this latest syphilis case and possible outbreak in the adult film industry," Weinstein said. "Information about this current case comes from an extremely reliable industry source. And while we hope this is a limited situation that results in no additional infections, we are also calling on the county to immediately step up and enforce the provisions and requirements of Measure B."
Measure B, known as the Los Angeles County Safer Sex in the Adult Film Industry Act, is being challenged in court by Vivid Entertainment and the adult film industry.

Mom Leaks Daughter's Nude Photos
Ariel Winter's mother contacted a Hollywood publicist and asked him to leak nude photos of her other daughter, Shanelle Workman, he exclusively tells RadarOnline.com. The bombshell report comes after Shanelle was granted legal guardianship of Ariel, 14, because of court documents alleging physical and emotional abuse at the hands of her mother, Chrisoula "Crystal" Workman, and publicist Jonathan Hay was out for revenge when she contacted him.
"Crystal Workman, the mother of Ariel Winter, wanted me to represent her and leak nude photos in the media of her other daughter Shanelle," Jonathan exclusively told RadarOnline.com. "In all my years of being a publicist, I have never seen anyone stoop as low as wanting to sell out and destroy the reputation of her own daughter. Crystal said she wanted the public to see Shanelle for who she really was and smear her daughter in attempts to try and get custody back of Ariel."
It's a disturbing new twist in the already tragic story of the Modern Family star, and on Monday Crystal even had her attorney file court documents asking a judge to summon a complete income and expense declaration from Shanelle, 34, including bank statements, tax returns and source of income. RadarOnline.com spoke with Crystal who commented, "I love my daughter Ariel and I am trying to make sure she doesn't fall under the wrong influences so she doesn't become the next Lindsay Lohan."

LA voters to decide if condoms mandatory for porn actors
SEX stars are rallying against passage of a ballot measure that would require condoms in pornographic films.
If passed, Measure B on Tuesday's Los Angeles County ballot would force actors to wear condoms during porn shoots and it would require Department of Public Health inspections.
"The idea of allowing a government employee to come and examine our genitalia while we're on set is atrocious," sex film star Amber Lynn told the Los Angeles Daily News during a Sunday rally outside the Dejavu strip club in North Hollywood.
The measure is backed by the AIDS Healthcare Foundation.
Condom use would be a condition for obtaining shooting permits. Porn producers would pay a fee to get permits, and the funds would be used to pay enforcement costs.
Michael Weinstein, executive director of the AIDS Heathcare Foundation, has spent more than $US1.6 million ($1.5 million) on Measure B, according to county Registrar-Recorder's office figures.
"As a taxpayer, if I wasn't in the porn industry, I would be aghast at how much was being spent on supporting Measure B," Ms Lynn said. "That's money that could have gone to supporting sex education, or help those suffering with HIV."
Sex-film stars insist an industry health protocol requiring regular HIV, gonorrhea and chlamydia testing is enough.
